# Building a Professional, Production-Ready Demo Platform with zero Idle Cost

I wanted a cleaner, more professional way to present my demos, one that feels production-grade, always uses a reliable HTTPS URL, and costs almost nothing when idle.

Most setups force a trade-off: either expensive always-on environments or broken links after teardown.

Milestone reached: the permanent domain is now live: [www.demourlisd.one](https://www.demourlisd.one)

When no demo is active, it displays a clean "Domain for sale" page, powered by a Cloudflare Worker + KV at virtually zero cost. Cloudflare handles public HTTPS termination.

How the setup works:

- After each demo or test session, I fully delete the entire Azure resource group, including the AKS cluster and the public Load Balancer IP.
- Every new session gets a fresh public IP from Azure.
- The same permanent domain (www.demourlisd.one) is always used.
- When a new demo starts, the Azure DevOps pipeline will automatically update the backend IP in Cloudflare KV, so the Worker instantly routes traffic to the new AKS backend.

Current architecture note:

The connection from the Worker to the temporary Azure AKS backend is still HTTP. To make it fully secure (end-to-end encryption), I will deploy cert-manager + Let's Encrypt in the ephemeral AKS cluster. This will allow the Worker to proxy securely over HTTPS to a temporary subdomain.

Next steps:

- Deploy cert-manager in AKS cluster (add it to the pipeline)
- Dynamically update KV so the same domain proxies traffic to the live backend
- Implement Canary deployment on top of existing blue/green

This project is excellent hands-on practice for AZ-400 topics: ephemeral infrastructure, certificate management, pipeline orchestration, cost optimization, and secure routing patterns.

The domain is live! Feel free to check it out: [www.demourlisd.one](https://www.demourlisd.one)
