# YES! Blue-Green deployment working

Over the past weeks I was working on a side project for AZ-400 preparation. I now added blue-green deployment to it and made a small demo on AKS using Azure DevOps and Traefik IngressRoute traffic switching.

For this demo I used two Git branches:

- main = current version, without the new feature,
- feature branch = new version, with the new feature.

I deployed the main branch version to blue, which is also the current live environment. And the feature branch version to green, where the new functionality is available for validation before promotion.

The setup is split across three pipelines:

- one to provision the infrastructure (AKS and related resources),
- one to deploy the application to blue or green,
- and one to switch production traffic between blue and green.

That keeps the flow nicely separated:

- infrastructure provisioning,
- deployment,
- and promotion/rollback.

What I liked about this exercise is that it quickly moved from theory into practical DevOps details:

- namespaces and environments,
- ingress route design,
- image/tag handling,
- and thinking about stable production routing instead of action-specific ingress rules.

This started as an AZ-400 practice exercise, but it is also a nice example of how certification prep can turn into something practical and reusable.
